Text   frequently “wak”ed questions

Let’s start with a basic bio of me (style stolen a little from Cygnoir):

Aesthetic orientation: I like birds.
Birdy orientation: Swans (particularly Black and Trumpeter), hyacinth macaws, secretary birds, bearded vultures, red-tailed hawks…
Favorites: Burnt caramel scent, winter, green places, high cliffs, abandoned castles, rain, bubble baths, libraries, avocado, 梅干, coconut, blankets, wings, glamourbombing, mashed potatoes, people-sized nests, forest shrines, dream pop, blue skies, choco-banana taiyaki, stories, monsters, worship of strange things
Disabilities: Autism (with related issues of audio processing disorder, dyspraxia, misophonia and language disabilities), dissociative amnesia (with short-term memory problems), anxiety, dermatillomania, possible some traits of schizoid personality

Aversions: touch without asking, everything being romantic, racism, ableism, the idea of “friendzone”, the word “human” used to mean “person”, breasts on anthro birds, policing people’s emotions, people who say they’re okay with weird things but only mean socially acceptable weird things, injuries to birds, advertising, sport hunting*, mocking people
(*Though a lot of sport hunters, I know now, do good work to preserve wetlands, so, my opinion on this is shaky. I can be moved if you have good arguments.)
Favorite quote right now: “…born of dark water, daughter of the rain and snow”. From Florence and the Machine’s “Landscape”.

Actual questions

What is this “non-human” nonsense?

http://chasingcaribou.tumblr.com/post/22553701546/an-otherkin-newbie-pack

But you know that you’re really human, right?

Please read that link I just gave you and try again.

But you know that’s really stupid, right?/You’re insane!/You need help!

Please ask your self, “do I think someone like Tsu hears these things often? Do I think she probably already has answered them a hundred times and explained in detail why that is not true? Do I think she wants to do it again? Am I a concern troll?”

Then, go outside, breathe in some fresh flowery air, and meditate on your navel. The answer will come. While you’re doing that… you’re not eating that sandwich, are you?

Do your parents know that you identify non-human, and, how do they take it?

For some reason I get this question a lot… Yes, they do, and they take it very well, actually. They are very accepting people. <3

How do you pronounce “Tsu”? Is it like “Sue”? Or, something else?

It’s the “tsu” in “tsuki”. You can listen to this song, “Tsuki no Curse”, where they sing it a lot. It’s similar to “su”, but, you can hear there’s a very slight “t” at the beginning. The important thing to remember is that “tsu” is one syllable long.

I don’t really mind if you say it “Sue”, it’s the most similar sound that is easy for English speakers to do. And I’ve heard a lot worse attempts, trust me. ^v^ If you want to really try to work it out, listen to Japanese people saying “tsuki” and “suki”. They are both common words that you can find in a lot of songs (any love song will have “suki” or “daisuki”, because it means to like or love. And “tsuki” means moon so you can find it in a lot of songs from anime like Sailor Moon).

I heard you have a nest, what does it look like?

Like this!

It’s a commission from JMFSewingDesigns on Etsy. It’s a giant sized dog bed.

What do you want to do when you get older?

Destroy society and create a new utopia on the ashes. Also, raise cygnets.

I feel X, does that mean I’m otherkin?

Your identity is something only you can work out for your self. I can’t tell you whether you’re otherkin, any more than I can tell you if you’re genderqueer, asexual… etc. etc. That knowledge is inside you.

How can I tell what my species is?

See my answer to this person: http://swanblood.tumblr.com/post/25544160382/hi-there-i-was-wondering-if-you-would-be-able-to-help

I feel X, is that a valid identity? Is it okay to be that? Does that exist?

I believe that every identity is a valid identity. If you have that identity, then, clearly, it exists!

Hope that helps, wak~!
